If you’re a young person in Ohio, DON’T tell your therapist you are trans. You may think “oh but my therapist would never tell my parents!” No, you don’t understand, there’s a hellova lot of people who dont give two shits about the morality of their actions, all they care about is being law abiding citizens. If they’ve made it a felony to not tell parents about trans clients, then people are gonna tell parents about trans clients. Confidentiality of you identity doesn’t exist any more. Don’t. Tell. Your. Therapist.
It’s awesome that op is raising awareness about this, but the information is slightly incorrect – probably due to the ambiguous wording of pretty much everyone reporting on House Bill 658 (”Parents Rights Act”).
Fighting this bill is important, not only for Ohio transgender youth, but for the rest of America. The passing of this bill into law would set a precedent for other states to follow suit.

In a state where we’ve in recent history have had a very tragic death of a trans youth after their parents found out and basically tortured and isolated them, they’re now trying to pass this bullshit? I also don’t think this bill is legal on the basis of HIPAA. Even as a minor, you have the right to confidentiality. This bill is just aiming to get youth very much in danger.
This bill is not about protection, as mentioned above this bill violates HIPAA and Confidentiality. This is not about helping kids, this is about giving parents the right to control how their child chooses to present and how their child authentically feels about their own body.
Do not let this go by. Do not let this pass.
If you are concerned about your own therapist bring up the bill in passing and vaguely ask their opinion on it. If they answer they will follow it then you have the right to refer out. They must refer you out to another therapist. You do not have to tell them why.

if you have a samsung galaxy/note phone (and potentially other samsungs) disable storage permissions for stock messenger, long story short apparently some people’s entire galleries are being texted to random recipients after a recent update. so uh. your whole gallery can be texted to a random contact without your knowledge. evidence of the photos being sent only show up to the recipient. so unless they tell you, someone could have all of your pictures without your knowledge. this is a truly dangerous bug and more people are realizing they are affected by the hour. nobody knows what causes it or how to stop it for sure
just want to emphasize that this is happening and is horrible and potentially life changing. a few people are reporting their entire gallery being texted to a random contact. every photo. aside from the obvious danger of accidentally sending inappropriate pictures to co-workers or something, this could out a lot of people to abusive family or put folks in danger or someone even mentioned having inappropriate pictures accidentally sent to a child. the biggest workarounds right now are switching from the stock messenger app on samsung devices and disabling storage permissions and connectivity between gallery and SMS and just as many permissions as possible until anyone figures out why this is happening. this bug potentially affects anyone using the stock samsung text/messenger/SMS app.

…Trump said Wednesday that he intends to select a replacement for retiring Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy from a pre-existing White House list of candidates.
Kennedy announced Wednesday that he will retire from the Supreme Court effective July 31, giving Trump the opportunity to select his replacement. The president told reporters moments after the announcement that he’ll begin the selection process for Kennedy’s replacement “immediately.”
Trump told reporters that he met with Kennedy this afternoon. The two discussed potential replacements, Trump said.
“There are certain names that are just outstanding, names that you already know, to be honest with you,” the president said. “But they will come from the list of 25 people.”
The White House published a list of 25 candidates in November. Trump nominated Justice Neil Gorsuch from a similar list.

I got a call from my Endocrinologist earlier. she was nice enough to give everyone who’s trans a call to tell them, Fidelis Care has changed their coverage, and will no longer cover transgender services. No more coverage for trips to see your doctor about trans related needs. No more coverage for your HRT. None of that.
If you are on Fidelis-Medicaid, Medicaid will not pick up the slack from Fidelis not covering it. That was my hope and it was sadly dashed when I called up my local planned parenthood to inquire.
If you are on Fidelis, either be prepared to pay a couple hundred dollars for doctors appointments + whatever the cost of your hormones is, OR switch to a different provider. I can’t make any suggestions, I’m very overwhelmed RN and haven’t had time to look into it. If you are NOT on Fidelis, Please also reblog this to spread the word! I don’t want people getting caught in the dark, surprised by this and stuck with bills they are unprepared for!
