I know this past week of meetings in the Senate has been discouraging guys. I do. This is impossible to breathe. So here are some things you can do to help:
– Call your senators about Mnuich (Mee-Noo-Chin) and tell them to vote no. The Senate does not vote on this until 7 EST on Monday. That’s 72 hours to make our voices heard. He’s the nominee for Treasury – he’s unqualified by any measure, failed to disclose 100 mil in assets, exploited homeowners in the 2008 crisis, and is a general bad choice. – Call about Priutt, who has no business running the EPA considering his history of anti-environmentalism and lawsuits against them.

– Call about other things – Bannon on the NSC, how you expect your senators and reps to oppose Trump’s odious cabinet, about protecting the ACA and Medicare, about Russia, about the EPA, about Kellyanne Conway’s disgusting ethics violation, about supporting H.R. 804, stopping HR 637, keeping the Election Assistance Committee, about Flynn, protecting the separation of church and state, opposing H.R. 622, object to unravelling Dodd-Frank, oppose Neil Gorsuch, reject the Muslim ban, oppose the wall. All of this is important.
– Who should you call? https://5calls.org/ has a wonderful call list for many of the issues outlined above. All it needs is your ZIP code, which you can get by writing your full address in google maps. Be sure to tell them your ZIP (or full address if your district is cut weird and you don’t live in their ZIP) to ensure your call is logged. http://itstimetofight.weebly.com also offers call lists. Both sites offer scripts.
– Reblog posts encouraging people to call. Again, likes are very nice and much appreciated, but they don’t spread the word. Reblogging does.
– Keep up with your local, state, and national elections. And find out what your elected are doing. A good way to keep up nationally is here, and I would hope your states or localities have similar ways to keep up.: https://www.congress.gov/ If you oppose what they’re doing? CALL. If you agree? Call and encourage them.
– Not good at calling? Email them. Full mailbox? https://faxzero.com will let you fax them, and it will give you a number of free pages per day. Write letters. Go to events. ANYTHING. 5calls will also give you a list of local offices you can try.
– Check your voter registration – is it up to date? If not, update it. If it is, keep it that way as long as you can. 2018 is not far away.
http://www.roadto2018.com/indiana.html and https://swingleft.org offer good information on this.
– Donate and support whatever Democrat you get. A red state Democrat with a few values missing or compromised on to keep in office and whom you can contact to demand improvement from is better than a Trumpian Republican with no Democrat values whatsoever you’ll need to pull teeth with to get to do the right thing. You can influence your representative choices, sure, but work with the candidate you get. This is not optional. 2018 needs to flip to the Democrats and that’ll only happen if you support the candidates who have a chance – not third party or other candidates you think are further left. Work with who you have.
– If you are outside the US, keep up with your own governments too. The rise of authoritarian, neo-fascist, far right, and autocratic governments is real and you need to get ready to vote against it at home.
– Let me know what I can do to convince you to contact your reps. You want fanfic? Meta? Cute animal gif posts? I will do whatever I can to get you to contact your reps (within reason).
– Take care of yourselves. This is exhausting work. After you’ve reblogged call posts and (ideally) called your reps and done research, definitely treat yourself to an ice cream or find a friend to cry with or do something fun for you.
Reblogging this every day until Monday. I think its important
And again for you nighthawks.
If you want to add impeachment or relations with North Korea or any other country, feel free. Especially in light of recent events.
Friendly reminders.
Take your fight to people who can fix it. For instance, want to know why you’re paying for Trump’s weekends? Ask your electeds. Especially GOP electeds who like to complain about financial waste.
Venting is good for you, but if you’re going to complain to someone about something to get something done, you’ve gotta pick the right person. Your electeds are it.
Here’s a great call list for today! Get it done.
